Port Harcourt — Fresh data from the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has revealed stark disparities in petrol prices across Nigeria, with consumers in Jigawa, Ondo, and Lagos paying above N1,100 per litre in June 2025, while motorists in Yobe enjoyed the lowest average price of N950.60.
The report showed that the average retail price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, nationwide rose to N1,037.66 per litre in June 2025, marking a 38.32 percent increase compared to N750.17 in June 2024.
On a month-on-month basis, prices also inched up by 0.96 percent from N1,027.76 in May 2025.
Jigawa topped the list of high-price states at N1,107.52, followed closely by Ondo at N1,104.80 and Lagos at N1,100.29.
In contrast, Yobe, Kogi, and Imo recorded the lowest pump prices at N950.60, N986.67, and N987.86, respectively.
At the zonal level, the Northwest emerged as the costliest region, averaging N1,062.84 per litre, while the Northeast recorded the lowest zonal average of N1,020.15.
The figures highlight persistent disparities in the deregulated downstream market, where location and distribution costs are driving uneven pump prices across the federation.
