They stated that the plant would commence commercial operations in 2021, in addition to unlocking investments in power transmission infrastructure.
“Beginning in 2020, 60 per cent of our future investments will be outside Africa, so we can have a balance,” said Dangote, who is worth $11.1bn, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.
“The project, to be jointly financed by Dangote Industries Limited and the Black Rhino Group, is expected to provide state of the art renewable energy plant. It will convert the abundant energy of the sun into high quality clean electricity,” he said.
He added that the state government was targeting over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in its new cement factory which will be built through public-private partnership (PPP).
