Total Quartz now infused with Age Resistant Technology

26 September 2017, Sweetcrude, Paris — TOTAL QUARTZ, the most successful engine oil in auto racing, winning several world titles since 1968, now comes ‘with ART’ (Age Resistance Technology), a new technology bringing engine protection to perfection.

Nowadays, technology is constantly evolving, designing the same way faster and more efficient automotive engines. There is also a global demand, as well as regulations, for cleaner energy, which means car manufacturers are finding ways to lower emissions, including CO2. Therefore the objective is to enhance technologies for higher efficiency, without it costing the environment as much.

One very popular configuration is the engine downsizing and turbocharging. Generally, by reducing the number or the capacity of the engine cylinders, engines are more efficient and more lightweight, resulting in an agile and compact car. Add turbocharging, which is the utilization of the exhaust energy to pressurize incoming air, and you‘ll get significantly more engine power. Customers benefit from better performance, lower fuel consumption along with a smaller carbon footprint.

On the other hand, this does bring new challenges. Faced with high temperatures and pressures, it is no surprise that oil oxidation/degradation is accelerated, which leads to increased wear and sludge build up. Subsequently the car owner has a higher risk of premature engine breakdown.

This is where Total, one of the largest global oil and gas company, came up with a breakthrough innovation known as ‘TOTAL QUARTZ with Age Resistant Technology’. A solution made possible by Total’s cutting edge R&D, which required 15,000 hours of testing, engineering to boost product performance. TOTAL QUARTZ with ART reinforces oil molecules and aims to be more resistant to oxidation, which helps combat sludge and wear. So much so that it has accomplished an improvement of up to 18%** in sludge protection versus to official ACEA limits . Official testing by ACEA* also confirms an enhancement of mechanical wear preservation of up to 64%.

This revolutionary lubricant technology by Total, which provides ultimate resistance to oxidation and oil degradation, can transform a car owner’s experience on the road as well as save maintenance cost. Using ART, Age Resistant Technology makes for a cleaner and more protected engine.
